My name is Adrienne Scott-Trask and I am a fashion design graduate from Ryerson University. My time spent at Ryerson gave me a great start by teach me a little bit of everything from all areas of the fashion industry. Everything about garment production from the creation of a fibre, turning that fibre into fabric, fabric into a t-shirt and then how to sell that t-shirt in a store. I have skills in drafting patterns, draping garments and transferring them to pattern, sewing with all different types of fabrics and materials, visual communication and illustration as well as computer skills using programs like Adobe illustrator, Adobe photoshop and Excel.
Not only do I have the hands on skills in the process of creating a garment but I also have a strong business and marketing background, as Ryerson understood that half of the fashion industry is business. I have taken Marketing, general business, entrepreneurial studies, business communication and international business classes just to name a few. Not only that, but the focus on every garment I ever created while attending Ryerson was to understand the market and customer we were designing for. Understand who our competition was and how we would differ from them and where we would fit within the market place. This way you were creating something that your market had a demand for and that it was at the right price point and was and was available at the right time.
My main work experience within the fashion industry to date has been within the retail industry both working for small independent stores as well as well-known larger department stores. Through my retail experience to date I have gained a lot of hands on experience with many different types of clientele, worked with every type of look from jeans and a t-shirt to prom and wedding dresses and have learned a great deal about the power of visual displays and have experience both in creating in-store displays and maintaining them.
I am now looking for the ideal position to take all of my passion and love for fashion, styles and trends and move it in the direction of further developing my career within the fashion industry
Sincerely,
Adrienne Scott-Trask
